Afghan Hound
The Afghan Hound is a very ancient dog, belonging to Sinai (Northeast Egypt), and mentioned in Egyptian papyruses (writing-material made in ancient Egypt) as well as pictured in the caves of northern Afghanistan more than 4000 years ago. Many people believe the Afghan Hound is the most ancient of breeds. The actual age of the breed is in controversy, as there are different views of its origin, but most acknowledge that the Afghan Hound history goes back to approximately 8,000 years. The breed kept pure for centuries, and its exporting to another country was always legally ban. Therefore, the Afghan Hound reached Europe by smuggling in early 19th century. The Afghan hound was used as a shepherd and hunter of many types of game including deer, wild goats, and even wolves and snow leopards. The Afghan Hound was also used by shepherds as herders and watchdogs. The Afghan Hound is very fast and agile runner, the Afghan Hound pursues game by sight. Afghan Hound Grooming and Ideal living conditions
As the Afghan Hound got long hair, so needed proper hair care and brush it daily and avoid creating apples under the arms and behind the ears. Have to take special care of hair. Special comb and conditioner shampoo is required for Afghan Hound. The Afghan Hounds require space, as they like to run and is very active dog. Whenever the Afghan hound get wet you, must take special care and always have to have clean big towel of the dog.
